I'm currently working on a school management system, in an iterative discovery loop: building prototypical parts of the system, putting them in front of users, and folding their feedback into each iteration, progressively uncovering an unfamiliar domain and its vocabulary. Over time converging on UI/UX that works for the end users, and refactoring repeated patterns.
As Head of Engineering, I was responsible for technology strategy and line management as the company grew from £1.3m to £4m per month.

As an EM or an IC, the more you ground your work in what the world is telling you, the more effective it can be. I tried to catalogue all the feedback loops I could think of, and the different ways they could be cut.

There are many recurring decisions a product company faces, and for those decisions there are a range of feedback loops that can inform the decision.
